It’s no secret that the Hummer H2 Tank SUV is not the most eco friendly when it comes to gas comsumption. In fact, from my research Hummer does not have to particpate in publishing EPA ratings to show consumers the average MPG this vehicle gets. I read several reports of the Hummer averaging anywhere from 7 MPG to 13 MPG. I have a feeling the guy who got 13mpg was driving down hill with the wind going in his direction and the A/C turned off! I happen to love Hummers and secretly, I’ve always wanted to own this big, powerful get outta my way or I will drive over you machine. I think deep down every man wishes he could own one of these at some time in his life.
Just one problem, the fact that the MPG is MIA!
I did the math. The H2 has a 32 gallon tank (sheesh!) and in Phoenix, AZ premium gas is selling for about $3.50 per gallon totalling $112 per fill up. I conservatively used 10 MPG to figure out how many miles a driver would get on one tank and that numbers comes to 320 miles. Thats the exact same mileage I get in a tank with my Nissan 350z and my Pathfinder. One difference, I spend less that $60 to fill up those vehicles!
Hummer drivers, I don’t know how you guys do it. That is one expensive tank. I guess like the saying goes, you’ve got to pay to play. I do have one question. Are there any liberal democrats that own a Hummer? I think I know the answer to that but someone prove me wrong.

Ken, a loyal platenuts.com reader was eating at Famous Dave’s at the Arrowhead shopping center in Glendale happened to snap a quick shot of this Scion xB custom license plate.
I know that the owner was probably going for the whole “I am driving a hot little box looking car” theme here but one can’t help wonder if they came up with that to just throw you off. Ah-ha!
I suspect red eyes, empty cigar wrappers and munchies may have been the motivation behind this license plate.
Thanks again Ken for sending this in.

I was backhome in San Antonio, Texas visiting my family and attended Christmas service at Community Bible Church in San Antonio.
While trying to park I see this awesome plate on this GMC Yukon. Not only did it read “LV 2 FSH” but it had a Christmas wreath gracefully placed on the crash bars or whatever the hell you call those things.
So I park and walk up to the car to take a pick of the custom license plate and I was even more surprised to see my favorite team and former employer, the 4 time World Champion San Antonio Spurs! decal placed on the rear of the SUV. This decal alone made me love this GMC Yukon even more.
This was a car that represented Texas 100%-Spurs, fishing, and a big ass SUV. This was a great welcome back to the Lone Star State.

Now even thought the body style of this ride has since changed, I sitll am in love with every bit of it. Some of that loves comes from this vehicle being feature first in Usher’s “You dont have to call” music video. Ever since then I was sold.
This particular Escalade or Esca-la-ta-tay, as I often erronously pronounce it, is very clean with the bright blue paint and some very, very, very nice and LARGE “THANGS” on it. (in my world, THANGS can refer to wheels or rims on a car…word of the day)
I had a chance to snap a few photos while the owner was inside Subway. Obviouosly the car is very blue…now the questions becomes, is the Escalade very fast too? We’ll never know.
This has to be my most enjoyable license plate experience so far. On Cave Creek & Union Hills in Phoenix Arizona, I came across a very interesting duo. I watched them exit the store and walk toward they’re vehicle. When my eyes left them so see what the couple was driving I was delighted to see they had a very unique and interesting vanity license plate. I had to engage…
I excused myself and approached. I asked if I could take a picture of their car for my vanity license plate blog. They gladly accepted with excitement and curiosity. Once I was finished telling them about it, they then asked “Let’s do a photo with us in it?” Without hesitation I replied with “Sure!” I thought that they meant just the two of them posing as a couple for the blog. Just as I got my camera ready, without a word to each other, they both walked to the back of their car, dropped to their knees and gave one hell of a rock star pose! It was fun, it was funny and damn it I liked this unique couple!
The best part of the story (for me) is that as we were wrapping up our brief moment of excitement, I told the owners that I have a picture of the other owners who beat them to the punch and got the spelling with an “I.” I promised to put that one up later…I am sure the people with the “I” aren’t nearly as a cool couple as Robby and Tory.
